Travel apps are a great way to enhance your holiday experience. Here are some of my favourite travel apps that I cannot live without, covering everything from directions to food and even the nearest loo! I’ve got you covered, keep reading to find out more!
1. CityMapper
If you intend to use public transport during your vacation, then CityMapper is an absolute MUST! This travel app will serve as your extensive guide to navigating local transport. Simply type in your current location and your desired destination for a full list of suitable routes. Compared to similar apps on the market, I have found CityMapper to be the most accurate and informative. Covering over 100 locations globally, CityMapper is one of the best apps to keep you safe when traveling from A to B.
2. Flush
An odd but necessary app for those with weak bladders. Flush is a travel app that helps you locate the nearest toilet and provides directions to get there. With over 200,000 loos registered in its database, Flush is the perfect app to help you go at any time. It provides all the information you need, including any fees required, accessibility, and if the restroom requires a key. This app even allows you to rate toilets or add a location to help the app’s progression.
3. AllTrails
This one is for my holiday walkers. AllTrails is an app that finds the best walking routes in your selected area. Whether you are biking, hiking, running, or walking, AllTrails is the best way to get outdoors and explore your chosen destination. It rates each route based on its intensity, skill level, and elevation while verifying if the route is suitable for dogs, prams, etc. AllTrails is one of my favourite travel hacks; the app is perfect for exploring the local area and making the most out of your trip. 4. Been
Been is a travel app that allows you to record where you have been in the world, how much of the world you’ve seen, and to list where you want to go next. This is a great app for any travel bugs who are determined to tick off their bucket list locations. If you are travel-mad or need some travel inspiration, then this is the perfect app for you.
5. World of Mouth
If your vacations revolve around food, then World of Mouth is the app for you. This travel app is the ultimate guide to the best restaurants around the globe. World of Mouth has over 700 food experts who test and review food from all over the world. From street food to fine dining, World of Mouth has you covered. Simply search your destination to find the top-rated food in the area. This app will save you time and help you enjoy the best cuisine wherever you choose to go.
6. Google Chrome App
This may seem like an obvious choice, but I cannot tell you the number of times the Google Chrome app has saved me on my travels. The Google Chrome app features one of the most user-friendly translation options on the market. Simply point the camera at any menu or text, and the app will provide you with a translation in seconds. This is very handy when you’re in a restaurant or looking at directions. It is worth mentioning that Google Translate is not the most accurate, but it is a great tool if you are desperate!
7. Currency Converter Plus
A currency converter app is always great to have; my personal favourite is Currency Converter Plus. Currency Converter Plus is continually updating its rates and is one of the most accurate apps available. Before you set off on your travels, I will always recommend a currency converter app. This is one of the best ways to keep on top of your spending and stick to your budget.
8. Travel Spend
While we’re on the topic of spending, my next favourite travel app is Travel Spend. This is an app that allows you to create a budget for your travels. With Travel Spend, you can enter your total budget for the trip, and the app will create an expense log. The app will work out how much you can spend per day. You have the option to manually add each expense on the trip or even link your Apple Pay to the app and have each transaction added automatically. Travel Spend is one of the best ways to keep me well within my travel budget and prevent any overspending.
9. TripIt
If you are anything like me, you love a good itinerary when you’re on holiday. TripIt is one of my favourite apps for creating an itinerary, simply because of how easy it is! Start by sending your confirmation emails to the app, and TripIt will arrange an itinerary for you. This can be easily changed at any time and shared with anyone you desire. TripIt even goes to the extent of keeping you updated with any delays or changes, and it helps to find you alternate routes if necessary.
10. Get Your Guide
Last but not least, we have Get Your Guide. This travel app helps you find the best excursions and things to do in your desired location. You are able to book activities through the app and store your tickets in the bookings section. Get Your Guide lists all the top places to see, helping you get the most out of your vacation.
All these travel apps have been tried, tested, and loved by me! So, be sure to check them out before your next adventure. For more travel tips and tricks, be sure to sign up for our mailing list!
